Box set of 7 DVDs, each with a 15 minute presentation and small booklet containing pictures from the dramatic footage, and 12-15 questions following on from the material; and a prayer to finish. No timings given so up to you how long you spend on the questions.

  • What is the overall quality of material presentation?

    Andy Frost teaching and talking on locations like the ones in the footage of the Jesus story, and clips of this footage. Good production of photographs on the covers and booklets.

    How clear are its aims and outcomes?

    The overall aim for the films is that in the blurb: ‘a journey into Scripture that both questions and comforts.' Attractive layout in short booklet.

    How accessible are the leader's notes?

    The questions are set out in an innovative way, juxtaposed against stills from the Jesus story footage. No leader's notes or other instructions as to how to use it. Watch the video and pick the questions ... Questions are great though: thought-provoking, and a mixture of reaction to the Biblical story, topic and personal applications. Closing prayer is relevant.

    Who could lead it?

    A relatively inexperienced leader could lead this, as the questions should provoke good discussion, and the videos bring the Jesus story to life well.

    How helpful are the participants' resources?

    How good is any digital material?

    Andy Frost teaching and talking on locations like the ones in the footage of the Jesus story, and clips of this footage. Dramatic footage is powerful and location shots of Andy in keeping with the topic. Andy's style is impassioned and clear.

    How much prep will I have to do?

    Little – watch the video and look at the questions.

    The resource suggests links and backup material but none seems to be available. Sharejesusinternational is the only relevant link.

    Is it dated?

    No, and the dramatic footage of the Jesus story is strong.

    As long as your group is happy to engage in discussion, this will work well.

    How well does it cater for a variety of both learning and delivery styles?

    Mix of well-produced video with good visuals, to bring to life Andy's teaching and reflections on the biblical story chosen for each video; and the discussion from questions. One prayer provided to close.

    How adaptable is it to my situation?

    Likely to suit youth and younger adults best.

    How well does it encourage people to work together in applying the material?

    The last question each session asks, ‘What has this film and this discussion inspired you to do practically?' Responses to this may include working together.

    This is an exploration of Jesus' character, his subsequent actions, and our response to that. How could exposure to the life of Jesus be anything but inspiring? Andy focuses on bringing out the challenge of this for the whole of our lives.

    Plenty of challenge in each session, based on Jesus' approach to life. Questions should help people to engage with this.

    How well does it stretch faith and vision of God and his purposes?

    Good focus on how Jesus chose to live, with Andy spelling out the challenges of this.

    How well does it connect with real life issues?

    All the material is designed to allow the life of Jesus impact ours, with reference to the everyday issues we have to wrestle with, especially if we take on his way of seeing real life. Hopeful yet realistic.
