J.John’s classic Just10 series has been tailored to meet the specific need of the small group. Just10 provides leaders with the tools to unpack the relevance of God’s Ten Commandments in a way that helps people understand and apply them to their lives today. J.John presents the Commandments in a positive light showing that, far from being a set of rules to restrict us, they are the key to finding a framework for life.
2 DVDs, small A5 leader’s guide, participant’s journal, all in box. 10 sessions, each 90 minutes.
Adults, Beginning, Growing
Simple presentation of J.John's talks, filmed in marquee. Fairly basic introductory graphics; talks broken up into sections (rather abruptly). Nicely packaged with attractively-produced guide and journal in box.
Very clear. Mixture of watching, engaging with discussion based on questions.
Very accessible. Brief and to-the-point guidelines for running the sessions, both practically and sensitively. Timings given. Clearly set out schedule for each session, including suggested further reading. Good leading questions, though the talks may prompt others as well.
While J.John says you don't need to be a ‘spiritual or intellectual giant' to lead, some experience of group-leading would be good as he tackles challenging topics, and it would be good for the group to feel they are safe enough to respond honestly.
Attractive and helpful booklet with summary points from the talks, room for notes, suggestions for active response, and further reading.
Simple presentation of J.John's talks, filmed in marquee. Fairly basic introductory graphics; talks broken up into sections (rather abruptly). But J.John's inimitable style is compelling, exploring the topics with humour, reality and authority.
This material is easy to use, though you may want to watch the talks in advance in order to prepare pastorally for leading.

Very well. Discussion and prayer integral to session.
Despite the slightly clunky nature of breaking up the talks, this does give flow to the session and opportunities to discuss and process along the way. J.John is an extremely entertaining and clear speaker so the mix of listening, discussion and prayer would work well for most groups.
Would suit a wide range of groups. Very easy to listen to.
Great questions for discussion. Most material is for personal application, but decisions for actions are shared with at least one other person each time, and prayed over together. ‘Take it further' section encourages digging deeper into the topic between sessions, including suggestions for biblical reflection, more questions and further action.
50% directly, though all based on Ten Commandments. Talks, discussion and applications peppered with further references to passages, especially from the New Testament.
Each Commandment theme is explored from the perspective of a positive spin – eg ‘Thou shalt not steal' is presented as ‘Prosper with a clear conscience'; and often linked to other relevant biblical material.
Integral motivation for whole course.
Evangelical. Should suit most people.
Excellent. Rooted in reality, memorable delivery of material from J.John. Commandments deal with making life-discipleship work well.
Excellent. J.John mixes soundbites, stories and catchphrases into a deep understanding of the subject. Something for everyone.
Deeply challenging as material connects God's vision for our lives with our realities.
Implicitly and explicitly. Integral to whole material. Impossible to avoid application to the way we live, and our own everyday issues and choices.
Very clear presentation of Gospel as part of material. Very realistic about the need for God.
Implicit in living a life that attempts to demonstrate Christian discipleship at its most honest.
Not a focus.
Not a focus but implicit in need for personal response to Gospel.
