For those desiring to take steps in their Christian life and discipleship, to break free from bondage to the past and experience healing, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality is an eight-session video-based Bible study on the integration of emotional health and contemplative spirituality. Many sincere followers of Christ, followers who are really passionate for God, join a church, participate weekly in a small group, serve with their gifts, and who are considered ‘mature’, remain stuck at a level of spiritual immaturity-especially when faced with interpersonal conflicts and crises. The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality video study and companion study guide offer a strategy for discipleship that address this void, offering powerful pathways to transformation that will help people mature into a faith filled with authenticity and a profound love for God.

Smart and modern. Redesigned branding.
Aims and outcomes are spelt out. The aim is to be taken on a journey to discover a deeper relationship with Jesus, either as an individual or as a group. The Book and the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day study book can stand alone for individual use whereas the Participant's Workbook and DVD are designed to use with a group. However, the Participant's Workbook sets ‘homework' which requires the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality book along with the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day study book.
Very good. The leader's notes are combined within the Participant's Workbook, which everyone in the group is advised to own and work through. The Participant's Workbook uses the short videos on the DVD within the structure of the chapter. It is set out to be your own personal log, and to share what you feel able. Includes guidance on how to lead the group and how long each session will take overall as well as each question individually.
Someone confident and with a heart to see people grow in their relationship with God.
If it is read as an individual, the main paperback works well for self-exploration. Clear language with a practical approach to change. An individual can also use the Participant's Workbook and DVD too but it is designed for a group. Good space for written reflection.
Set out in 8 sessions to use with the Participant's Workbook, all fewer than 20 minutes. The first is longer as it provides some background. Features Peter Scazzero in a one-to-one format. Modern, American style video, accessible. Church Campaign Resources for Download include:
DVD is not necessarily appropriate for those who are ‘unchurched' due to the use of Christian language.
For a group, familiarisation with material, plus preparation of any of the downloadable resources – posters or banner ads. Otherwise all would just be reading the material along with the booklet inside the DVD cover – great practical tips in there; a very helpful guide.

No. This version is updated.
Good interaction. Recommends a group of between 6-10. Each chapter is structured with a ‘Introduction' followed by ‘Growing Connected' starters, a ‘Group Discussion' followed by watching the DVD episode. There is then a ‘Bible Study'; closing with ‘Application and Closing Prayer'. There are 5 days of homework.
The book is good for personal learning and for those who like to learn with others. The Participant's Workbook gives the opportunity to discuss this further and learn from others in a group, and gives space for written thoughts, reflections and ‘answers'.
Would suit those who would like to explore a deeper relationship with God. Practical in learning how to apply biblical narrative to your life and then impact others. It can be tailored to the faith level of the group by the depth of content in discussion.
Well due to the nature of the course. It is designed to be done together as a group with a strong emphasis on personal reflection and application.
Material in the Book is based on big picture of the Bible story and how it speaks into each 8-chapter topic. Many biblical references in each. In the Participant's Workbook, each chapter has a Bible Study.
Concise and clear. Structured well and examples are used to back up application advise. Speaks into how the Bible teaches how to live under each chapter title.
Broad evangelical.
Not taught directly but working within a group naturally encourages this. The focus is on your own personal development with God and learning together.
Very well. Highlights issues we all can identify with, tells of a better way with what the Bible teaches us, and gives participants a chance to process, reflect and change.
Very well. Requires commitment and investment from those participating.
Very well. Makes connections between faith and life throughout. Very realistic.
Little as it is not the main focus. However you do learn about how the Bible relates to ‘real life'; which does equip you to talk to others about how your relationship with Jesus is relevant today as well as the content having a friendly and accessible ‘life reflective' nature.
The downloadable resources (posters) encourage leaders to use them and display to the community and encourage others to join the group.
